Back rolling again on my Skating in Paradise serie

Back rolling again on my Skating in Paradise series.
This series is an ongoing personal one — While battling health issues, I found a way to keep skating through my art. Each piece is a vision of the afterlife, where I’ll get to skate all the beautiful spots I paint after my time is up here on earth. And while I’m working on them, I get to mentally skate them too — visualization is a big part of my healing process.

Many pieces in the series have already found new homes but there are a couple left on my originals page at Cornersofthesun.com - The latest one is also available and currently showing at La Luz de Jesus Gallery. And now I’m working on a few more to submit for their Everything but the Kitchen Sink show coming up this summer. 🤞 More to come soon!

I’m trying to learn to be more like bubbles in the ocean — drifting, rising, and moving with the current. It’s hard though and I am still figuring it all out.

With all the challenges I face daily, from pain to unpredictable flare-ups, it’s easy to get stuck fighting against it all. But I’m working on letting go a little more — to trust the flow and take things as they come.

Some days, I’m floating easy. Other days, I’m caught in the undertow. Either way, I’m still moving, still rising.

If you’re fighting your own battles, I hope you remember this: even when it feels like you’re stuck or sinking, you’re still here — still moving, still rising. Healing doesn’t follow a path, and strength doesn’t always look like fighting. Sometimes, it looks like surrendering to the flow and trusting yourself to find the surface again. Take care my friends.

What if a volcanic island was more than it seemed? Octocano Island brings that idea to life—a tropical paradise with a deep, untamed force beneath the surface. Inspired by island vibes, lava flow, and the mysteries of the ocean, this piece blends surrealism with bold day-glo colors that pop off the screen and take on a whole new energy under black light.

I first explored this concept a while back, drawn to the hidden power of nature and the weird. After a lot of research and planning, I think finally ready to continue the series. What do you think of this piece? Drop your thoughts below!

Crazy to look back at these designs and the shows

Crazy to look back at these designs and the shows they were a part of. I was lucky to share the stage on some of these and to get to design posters for some bands I love - Ozomatli, The Aggrolites, Los Yesterdays, Let’s Go Bowling, to name a few, as well as for friends’ bands like 40 Watt Hype, Danielle Rondero, and The Nitty Gritty, and for my own bands, King Sugar and Buzzbomb Phase 4. I’ve designed hundreds of posters through the years and am grateful for every opportunity to bring my art into the mix. Time to get them out of this old box in the closet and frame a few for my studio and music room. Which one’s are your favorite?

Art in Strange Places -
I stumbled upon this lonely kiosk at Lost Lake yesterday and it was practically begging for some creative company! It really got me thinking about printing a few paper copies of my artwork or even some small originals and going on a little adventure, finding lonely spots like this to brighten up with art.
